Vacation Express Travel Protection
When traveling to a foreign country, I highly recommend that everyone purchases travel protection for when the unexpected occurs. Most US health insurance plans do not cover you internationally so if you were to need medical attention, the cost would come out of your pocket and, most likely, the facility will require payment before they treat you. I recently had a guest who fell and broke their ankle while on vacation in Mexico and needed surgery. The surgery ended up costing over $20,000. They were glad they had purchased travel protection.
Typically travel protection will cover the following.
- Trip Interruption
- Travel Delay
- Missed Connection
- Emergency Medical Expenses
- Baggage/Personal Property
- Emergency Evacuation
- Baggage Delay
These plans will also let you cancel your trip and receive either your cash back or a travel voucher (minus the cost of the travel protection) so if something does come up before you travel, you have the flexibility to change or cancel your plans.
OPTION 1: VACATION PROTECTION PLAN [VPP]
- $89 per person Vacation Package
- $59 per person hotel only
- $109 per person Vacation Package with Supplemental Upgrade*
- $79 per person hotel only with Supplemental Upgrade*
The following benefits are provided by Vacation Express and are not insurance benefits.
Cancellations:
You can cancel for any reason a minimum of 24 hours prior to original scheduled departure time as indicated in your travel documents or no later than 5pm the day prior to departure for hotel-only bookings. When you purchase the VPP, all applicable cancellation charges [does not include change fees or reduced deposit plan fees] as per your Terms and Conditions contract will be refunded in the form of Vacation Express future travel certificates, known as a VPP Voucher, less the VPP plan cost. Scheduled-air passengers will receive the airline ticket numbers [or paper tickets] and be advised of the ticket cost.
VPP Voucher Information:
- Vouchers are issued in the original names of the passengers on the booking at the time of cancellation.
- The vouchers are non-transferable and name changes will not be accepted.
- Passengers have one year from original date of travel to use the voucher toward another package to any Vacation Express destination.
- VPP can be repurchased when rebooking your vacation with the original VPP voucher.
- Under no circumstances does the VPP allow for a full or partial cash refund, nor can it be extended.
- Please check with your airline for their specific requirements.
Change Fee Waiver:
A one-time change fee, per person will be waived prior to final payment. This applies only to Vacation Express change fees per our Terms and Conditions Contract. This does not include airline change fees where applicable. No changes can be made to bookings with non-refundable hotel rates. Re-issuing of airline tickets or hotel deviations while in-destination will incur a $75 per person change fee.
Price Drop Guarantee:
A one-time price adjustment is permitted per room and only applies to the land portion. The air portion of a booking is not eligible for price adjustment. All travelers in the room must have purchased insurance to qualify. Price adjustments must be requested prior to final payment and, if applicable, any refunds will be processed to the original form of payment. This does not apply to non-refundable room categories. Pricing must be available at Vacation Express at time of the request and all components must match. Email request for price drop adjustment to pricedrop@vacationexpress.com and include current screen shot including same hotel, room category and flight schedule. No changes can be made to bookings with non-refundable hotel rates.

You can cancel your vacation for any reason and receive a refund in your original form of payment. VPP+ must be added to your booking within 7 days of deposit date or before final payment is due, whichever occurs first. This plan is not available with non-refundable hotel rates or air only. Once purchased, your plan cost is non-refundable.

For travelers seeking higher limits, consider upgrading to VPP with Supplemental Upgrade or VPP+ with Supplemental Upgrade. Each of these plans provides the same benefits with the upgrade of coverage limits; $2,000 Trip Delay and $50,000 Emergency Medical Expense/Emergency Evacuation and Repatriation of Remains. Add $20 per person to the pricing listed above.
