Continuing our unforgettable cruise journey through Iceland and its surrounding wonders, Part 2 dives into breathtaking waterfalls, mystical volcanic landscapes, and dramatic rugged cliffs that stole the show. From becoming a proud “Blue Nose” crossing the Arctic Circle to wandering through lava castles and waving goodbye to new friends, this leg of the adventure truly captured the spirit of “Travel Like No One Else.” Come along as I share the highlights and heartfelt moments of this remarkable voyage.

Next up on our cruise around Iceland was Dynjandi Waterfall in Ísafjörður, cascading about 330 feet down a series of seven tiers, creating a stunning bridal veil effect. The main cascade begins at a width of 100 feet at the top and expands to almost 200 feet at the base, offering a breathtaking spectacle amidst the rugged landscapes of the Arnarfjörður fjord.
That evening at 8:15 pm, I officially became a "Blue Nose." In case you didn’t know, to join the Order of the Blue Nose, you must cross the Arctic Circle. While we didn’t have an official ceremony, I do have a certificate from our captain to mark the occasion.

Our last day in Iceland was an epic adventure. We started with a hike to Goðafoss, the “Waterfall of the Gods,” famous for its wide, horseshoe-shaped flow and powerful, thunderous waters. Next, we visited Mývatn Lake, a captivating volcanic lake renowned for its unique geothermal landscapes, abundant birdlife, and serene waters framed by rugged lava fields.

The final—and perhaps my favorite—stop was Dimmuborgir, the “Dark Castles,” a labyrinth of dramatic lava formations that seem to spring from another world. Nearby, the perfectly round and serene Skútustaðir craters offered a fascinating glimpse into volcanic activity.
After four straight days of exploring Iceland’s wonders, I was grateful for a Sea Day. I indulged in a body scrub and massage—just what the doctor ordered!

Our last port was Shetland, Scotland. If you’ve seen the TV show, you’ll recognize the town. That morning, I took a quick jaunt to see some adorable Shetland ponies before exploring the charming town. Then I ventured north to the Eshaness Cliffs—soaring rock formations with dramatic waves crashing below and rugged coastlines that feel both wild and awe-inspiring. Every glance revealed a new, mesmerizing view. (Thank you to Chris Knisley for taking the bagpiper photo)

On the cruise’s final day as we sailed back to Amsterdam, we packed our suitcases, said goodbye to new friends, and shared one last laugh, a beverage or a meal together. I realized how fortunate I am to do what I love—travel, learn, and connect with people around the world. I brought home one souvenir, a Christmas ornament from this trip, but countless memories that will last a lifetime—and isn’t that what it’s all about?
