Beyond Booking: The True Role of Your Travel Agent | Part 5 – Cruises

What’s the “Best” Cruise Line?

When asked this, I used to give a long, detailed spiel—only to see eyes glaze over. It’s a bit like asking “What’s the best car?” before knowing whether you’re commuting, road-tripping or hauling the kids. The real magic happens when we zero in on what you love, where you want to go and which onboard extras make you smile

This is where I come in.

During our initial complimentary consultation call, and before suggesting any ship, I’ll ask:

  • What’s your travel style? Adventurous, laid-back or a little of both?

  • Which destinations are calling your name?

  • Do you crave spa treatments, casino gaming or Broadway-style shows?

  • Would you rather mingle poolside or seek a more low-key vibe?

  • What onboard amenities are non-negotiable for you?

You see, not all cruise lines are created equally. Some are focused on family fun, while others pride themselves on being high end luxury where everything is included, to just about everything in between. Choosing the correct cruise line is crucial to enjoying your journey. From our conversation, I get an understanding of what type of cruise vacation you are looking for and find that for you.

Also, did you know that some cruise lines specialize in certain destinations? And that the itinerary can make a big difference? I work with 2 cruise lines that specialize in Alaskan cruises, cruise lines that sail only in such destinations as Greece and French Polynesian Islands and other lines who create in-depth itineraries that will get you up close and personal in your destination.
Packing
I also help you get ready for your cruise. I will provide options for travel insurance, explain how to use cruise line’s online planner to book specialty restaurants, shows, and onboard activities, email you reminders for important dates, packing lists, what to expect on board and answer any questions you may have along the way.
Choosing the correct cruise line isn’t the only factor in having a great cruise. It also includes getting there and coming home. ALWAYS plan to fly into your port city at least 1 day prior to embarkation day. This way, if there are delays with your flight, you can still make your cruise.
Viking
Lastly, if you want to customize your cruise experience, I can also help you with that. I provide alternate options for excursions in addition to what is offered by the cruise line. On my cruise around Iceland, in Reykjavik, I had a private tour of the city with my very own modern-day Viking. He showed me all around the city and shared insider tips you won’t find in a brochure. I’ll arrange small-group and private excursions that reflect your interests to customize the perfect off-ship adventure.

So when you’re ready, let’s have a relaxed chat about what really matters to you – your travel style, dream destinations and must-have extras. From picking the right ship and sorting flights to arranging custom shore excursions and sharing packing tips, I’ll guide you through each choice so you can swap stress for sea breezes and starry nights. No pushy pitches – just a friendly conversation that leads to a cruise perfectly suited to you.
