Two times a year, on October 22nd and February 22nd, this festival is a delight for Ancient Egyptian fans. During these two times of the year, the sun aligns with the entrance of the Abu Simbel temples honoring Ramses II and his wife, Queen Nefertari, to illuminate two of the three statues inside – leaving Ptah, the underworld god, in darkness.Today, the celebration consists of Nubian dances, live music, and street food outside the venue – making it one of Egypt’s most enchanting festivities!

The largest cultural extravaganza in Africa, this annual extravaganza transforms the ordinarily quiet streets of Grahamstown into a colorful hub of activity, attracting local and international stars alike. In addition to performances, every park or sports field becomes a flea market or a venue for over 600 different acts, ranging from music to stand-up comedy and everything in between!
